Surprisingly Fun
This was purchased as a joke for a Christmas present but proved to be a ton of fun to play with. It’s really inexpensive and well made. We spent the afternoon throwing it at things in the yard to see what we could “grapple”! The rope is a little weak but the hook itself seems great. Well worth the money and great fun.

Hook is good, Rope not so good
Purchased this product to remove some dead branches that had broken off a fir tree and had gotten tangled in the branches below. Got the branches down after a bit of a learning curve. The hook seems to be well made and is a good size and weight for for my (old and feeble) throwing arm -- I had to throw it about 30 feet so I didn't want something that was too heavy. The rope, on the other hand, failed almost immediately. This rope is made with a woven outer layer over a fiber core. The fiber core separated at almost every point where the rope was doubled over when it was coiled up. Since I was only tugging on it with my bare hands, it seems unlikely that I overloaded the rope -- but I see there is no load rating given for it in the description, so who knows? Fortunately, the outer layer stayed together and I did not end up with the hook stuck up in the tree. My suggestion is to keep a close eye on the condition of the rope and don't put much faith in it.

Great Hook
Bought to use on my boat. Works well as a anchor or claw to pull boat ashore.

Grapple is nice & sturdy but not rope
Had to go in water to retrieve the grapple when the rope broke on the 2nd throw! Grapple is nice just the rope is crap. Get yourself a rope to pull more than 10#.

As described
Smaller than expected, but works well

Worked as expected
I'm using this product to snag up underwater aerators for our lake aeration program when maintenance is needed. I added a bit of extra weight to the nose of the hook so it would settle down into the muck while dragging the lake bottom. It has done the job well!
