Frank Miller's Sin City Volume 1: The Hard Goodbye (Fourth Edition)

Miller sets the bar with The Dark Knight Returns and sets it again with this Sin City story. Just as The Dark Knight set a standard for edgy superhero comics, Sin City set a standard for crime noir stories. Frank broke all the rules of character design, page layout, and use of light and shadow to create new rules that many will aspire to.

A great Frank Miller run. I used to own the original comics. These look really great on their covers and color...eye popping. Plus they are all the same size. Some trades were not the same in size on past editions. I'll be getting the remaining volumes.

the art is immaculate and its so awesome to read through purely for the visuals. ive read it about 4 times hahaha i love it

If you've seen the movie then you'll know the stories you're getting into when you pick up the Sin City graphic novel series. Each volume tells one story and Volume 1 tells the story of Marv and his goddess Goldie and he wreaks havoc on the city looking for information and vengeance. I really enjoyed the art work and think that the movie did a really good job of casting or for the camera work and graphics to really keep that comic book feel. It did take me a few pages to get used to the stark black and white artwork but ultimately it was exactly the best decision for this series.Received via Edelweiss

Frank Miller is my favorite writer but I had never read Sin City, which is supposed to be his best creation. So when I first picked up this, I was mesmerized. It's violent, dark but it's beautiful. And the art styles breaks the stereotypes and the story is told through this unique art that differentiates it from other comics. It's truly the best of Frank Miller
