3M Head Harness 6897, Designed for 3M Full Facepiece Respirator 6000 Series

They last about a year of consistent use. So it’s always good to keep a spare around for emergency’s while working. They wear around the metal buckle so it’s the bottoms ones that tend to snap when you go to put the mask on. If you’re like me, once you have the tops adjusted, you only need to release the bottoms ones to remove and put on the mask. I do suggest the shields!! They are fairly cheap and I always replace them after each job, then dismantle the mask and clean thoroughly. The shields keep the shield in mint condition.

These straps break about every 150 days of use.I have replaced mine twice now. If your head is more fleshey and round you may have less need to tighten the straps and they will probably last longer.I think these straps are over priced, but I guess they have to make their money somewhere 🤔 although I spend a lot of money on M100 filters, so they are probably doing ok.

Much cheaper and easier ordering it here than going to a store and getting ripped off

I bought my 3M 6900 (large) full face respirator in 2014. All the original parts still work perfectly. I simply bought this replacement harness because the COVID-19 panic has made finding PPE or anything related to it harder to find. So I thought I’d better grab a replacement before I need it while I could still find it.Haven’t needed it yet but it looks like the original so I expect 3M quality.The seller, mBerzon, likes to burn Naga Champa incense and the smell permeates everything. So the harness arrived smelling like Naga Champa and since I store all the filters and things related to the respirator together, now the whole set smells like Naga Champa. Although I like the smell—your gas mask is not supposed to smell like anything at all! How can you tell if you your seal is broken and you’re inhaling something bad if the smell is masked by Naga Champa?! If you happen to be sensitive to smells or you don’t like Naga Champa, you’ll want to avoid this seller. Otherwise, the product seems legit.

I'm not rating these very highly because I'm not satisfied with how 'fragile', and disposable these are. They're too expensive given the 'endurance' factor. Compared to the half mask elastic bands, they're much easier, but they're not as rugged as the elastic! The head harnesses with elastic bands on my half mask(s) have lasted years! The original I'm replacing on my full face mask has only been used about 3 months. One 'lead' 'snapped' leaving me in dire straits at the hospital. My model 6700 mask isn't even a year old.
